Directional Drilling is used for the installation of underground utilities such as water, power, sewers, and communications without requiring open trenching. This means that the impact on the immediate residents and community is minimal with less traffic disturbance and a cleaner, safer working environment.
Horizontal Directional Drilling is typically utilised to bore under roads, driveways, rivers and creeks.
Operations start above ground by attaching rods to the unit, hydraulically boring down and then drilling horizontally. The process is controlled by a specialised team compromising of an operator and a locator who tracks the location of the drill at all times during the works. When the required distance has been drilled, the drill is directed back up to above ground, from there conduit can be attached and pulled back through the hole by the drill.
At Maintain Contracting we employ highly skilled drilling operators and locators with extensive experience in the industry.
